Religion and World Views at The Hendreds
As a Church of England school, spiritual development is at the core of teaching and learning at The Hendreds. Exploring religion and world views gives children the opportunity to increase self-awareness and reflect on their own views, beliefs and identity. Our curriculum offers a spiral approach to learning about the core beliefs and practices of Christianity and a broad range of other religions and world views including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism. Children develop understanding, tolerance and respect for a diverse range of beliefs, values and practices by learning where beliefs come from and how they impact and shape the way all people behave and live their lives. Lessons explore religion and world views through the lenses of theology (believing), human & social sciences (living) and philosophy (thinking), offering children opportunities to ask and consider challenging questions about the lived reality of religions.
