Design and Technology at The Hendreds

Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems, within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. We follow a ‘Design, Make, Evaluate’ approach to the teaching and learning of DT, from the youngest children in Early Years, who are encouraged to show an interest in technological toys and explore different materials, tools and techniques to construct with a purpose in mind through to Year 6, where children use research to inform the products that they create whilst getting the opportunity to work collaboratively on the Goblin Car project. At The Hendreds we aim to offer a challenging and engaging Design and Technology curriculum, which is consolidated across all aspects of our curriculum, relating to real life opportunities to design and make real products. This is delivered by knowledgeable and highly motivated staff who support all children so they can reach their full potential.
